Hi again pals!
How is it going? This week compared to last week it's been a relaxing week as for grammar points ;-)
Last week Sybil introduced "used to" and this week we studied it in depth and compared it to repeated actions at present with "usually".
The topic to talk about it was friendship and we had fun listening to two stories about people meeting old friends with Friends Reunited web site and reading a text about editing your friends. We also learnt some words and expresions about friendship and some get expressions too. Moreover, we practised listening and producing sounds /s/ and /z/ in the spelling -se.
Sybil taught different ways to agree and disagree with people and did a listening exercise about friendship to make conversations. She also helped you to revise second and third conditionals.
Finally, we talked about the importance of the International Working Women's Day. As homework, you have to create a Power Point presentation (2 or 3 slides maximum) about an English-speaking woman who has made progress in history and whose efforts have changed women's lives. Then, upload it using www.slideshare.com and send me the embed code of your presentation so that I can upload it on our Coeducation Blog!!!

A2 - Weekly summary
Hi everybody!
The weekly summary is going to be a bit complicated this time! Groups go at a different pace but that's not a problem ;-)
Group A revised unit 5A and finished unit 5B too. Both units are very important because we studied verb patterns: verbs with infinitive with "to" and verbs with -ing form. Group C finished unit 5A and started unit 5B. Therefore, we have to finish studying verbs with -ing form.
Sybil showed you expression about how to ask for information and how to get to some places. That's very useful when you travel abroad!
Finally, we also watched a video about the International Women's Day and, as homework, you have to create an A4 poster about an important English-speaking woman in history and bring it to class next day. Here you are the video we watched:
Finally, I want to remind you that next Friday 2nd March there's class at 16h. I hope you come, we'll revise grammar points, do a listening exercise and practise the speaking skill.

B1 - Weekly summary
Hi pals!
This week's been focused on conditional sentences, mainly the introduction, explanation and practice of the Third Conditional type through a bad / good luck topic. We also paid attention to the pronunciation of "would have" and "wouldn't have" at a normal speaking speed.
You also revised and practised the three types of conditionals with Sybil and she also introduced the grammar structure "used to" which we are going to study next week. Then, we had a look at the writing section - this time it's about describing events and festivals. Remember you have to bring your composition on Tuesday if you want to have it corrected before the examination period.
I also uploaded an extra worksheet about conditional sentences together with its answer key.

We've been very busy this week talking about houses and the different types of houses we can live in. So, we learnt some useful vocabulary to describe houses, indoor and outdoor features, furniture and appliances. Here you are the power point presentation I showed in class.
We also read a text about Victorian and Elisabethan houses and introduced the grammar structure "used to" to talk about habitual things we did in the past but we don't do it now anymore. You also revised superlatives with Sybil.
Then, we did a listening exercise to revise the topics and grammar points studied so far and we focused on the writing section of the book: describing the place you live in. Therefore, you have to write a composition about the place you live in and the description of your house too as homework.
Finally, we started a new unit and talk about how to survive at a party when you don't know anyone. This unit is very important because we are going to study verb patterns, that is, verbs followed by the infinitive with "to" and verbs followed by -ing form.

School trip to Burgalimar Castle in Baños de la Encina
Hi everyone!
As you know, the trip to Baños is on the 9th March. The bus leaves the School at 16:00 and returns at 18:30, more or less. Those students who are under 18 need their parent's consent. As for the price, it's €4 - payment deadline date is 24th February at the headmistress's office. Don't forget to pay to get a seat on the bus!!!
If there is any student who wants to join the guided tour but is not coming by bus, let me know in advance.
It will be great to go to Burgalimar Castle and have a guided tour in English!!!

B1 - Weekly Summary
Hiiiiya!
We've been working on Second Conditional sentences this week!!! The topic was introduced with an interview with Isabella Rosellini and Joaquín Cortés about their ideal worlds. And this was just an excuse to talk about our ideal worlds as well using the new grammar structure.
You also met the new language assistant, Sybil. She talked about Chicago but also helped you with Second conditional sentences. Some of your own sentences were simply great! Congrats!
Then, we also talked about houses in the UK and learnt some useful vocabulary about them, mainly to describe and compare them to house in Spain or somewhere else in the world. Finally, we talked about our dream houses.
As for homework, you have to read the text "Houses you'll never forget" and do the exercises for next week.

A2 - Weekly summary
Hi everyone!!
Last week we started a new grammar unit about superlative forms while we talked about the best cities in the world. We also paid attention to the structure ever + present perfect and superlatives. The test about the best city lead us to introduce opposite adjectives and we did a communicative activity to practise the structure ever + present perfect and superlatives..
We also listened to a journalist about a test in London and practised word stress in some sentences. Then, we had a vocabulary lesson about adjectives to describes people's appearance and personality. This is a very useful resource for written and oral exams!
Finally, you met Sybil, our new language assistant and you had fun listening to her and watching her PPT presentation about Chicago!

This's been a very long week! We kept talking about education and learnt about A-levels and FCE & CAE exams. We started the grammar point: future time clauses and if clauses. We revised first conditional clauses and introduced future time words which are followed by present tense: when, as soon as, before, until, etc.
We also listened to two people talking about a TV programme that compared education today and education in the 1950s and discussed about some education topics giving opinions for and against.
Jeanette also introduced second conditional clauses as a starting point for our lessons next week.
On Friday, we revised future time clauses and first conditional clauses. We also listened to three students talking about the improvements they would do in their schools and watched an extract from the film Finding Forrester. Finally, we listened to the song Heal the World by Michael Jackson to commemorate the International Day of Peace. You can listen to it by clicking on the "play" button below.
As for homework, some extra exercises on first conditional and future time clauses.

We learnt some useful "time expressions", such as spend time, waste time, take time, etc. The unit topic, the comparatives, also lead us to introduce some adjectives, especially personality and appearance adjective. We learnt adjectives such as selfish, stubborn, considerate, organised, bright, etc.
The comparison between brothers are sisters helped us introduce some intensifiers to talk about small or big differences + a comparative: a lot, much or a bit.
Finally, on Friday, we revised Present Perfect with for, since, already, yet and just, revised the comparative forms and compared some people and activities and listened to another chapter of That's life story. To finish, we listen to a song to celebrate the International Day of Peace: With My Own Two Hands by Ben Harper.
